So they took Jesus away. Carrying the cross by himself, he went to the place called Place of the Skull (in Hebrew, Golgotha). There they nailed him to the cross. Two others were crucified with him, one on either side, with Jesus between them (John 19:16-18, NLT).
Have you ever contacted someone around the time you were supposed to meet him or her and received this response, “I’m on my way”? This response can cause mental conflict. It’s hard to believe someone is on the way when they haven’t arrived at the agreed upon meeting time. It’s hard to believe because the visual evidence does not align with their confession.
I’ve discovered that visual evidence can be misleading. Let’s use Jesus as an example. In the verses included with this email, Jesus seems to be headed toward devastation. He’s dragging a cross down the street, and ultimately, He ends up nailed to that cross and hanging between two thieves. What seemed like a dead end, however, catapulted Jesus to His destiny. This trial looked traumatic, but it was the seed plot for triumph!
I believe the same thing is true about you! Your current circumstances may suggest your demise, but something developmental is occurring. Paul said it like this, “For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever” (2 Corinthians 4:17, NLT). I believe you’re headed to better. On the other side of this crisis is certainty. Everything God promised is just around the corner. Keep trusting Him to bring you to a place so incredible that you’ll forget the journey!
