You may be living through what feels like the worst time in your life, but God says it’s time to reconsider. What you’re experiencing is not designed to break you; rather, it’s building a better you. It’s time to demote your trial!
When I encourage you to demote your trial, I mean give it less attention. Difficulties often consume our minds, but they shouldn’t. They’re just instruments God uses to fast-track our destiny.
How do you demote your trial? Thankfully, Paul provides the answer in 2 Corinthians 4:17. Notice that he refers to troubles as small. By using a size-oriented adjective, he suggests that something must be greater. And there is! The glory (aka better experience) “vastly outweighs them and will last forever!” (2 Corinthians 4:17, NLT).
Here’s your challenge: use the same time and energy you’ve spent focused on your rough times thinking about the blessing headed your way. Think about how awesome the blessing must be if the burden has been this intense. Better, think about our God, who can do way beyond what you think. If you’ll do this, I believe you will officially demote your trial!
